Charter Schools Program

Provides financial assistance for the planning, program design and initial implementation of charter schools
Grants are available, on a competitive basis, to State Education Agencies (SEAs) in states that have charter school laws. SEAs, in turn, make sub grants to developers of charter schools who have applied for a charter.

Teacher Certification

The publication, Innovations in Education: Alternative Routes to Teacher Certification, published by the Department's Office of Innovation and Improvement, identifies concrete, real-world examples of innovations in alternate routes to teacher certification.
