Types of HQC Grants:

Planning Grants:

Offer financial support to qualified groups that are in the early stages of planning a charter school
Awarded in two phases:
-- Business Planning Grant for up to $10,000 offered six to twelve months prior to filing a charter school petition
-- Charter Petition Grant for up to $10,000 offered one to five months prior to filing a charter school petition

Start up Grants:

Offer financial support to qualified charter developers while they are waiting for authorizer approval of a submitted charter petition and during their first year of operation.
Awarded in two phases:
-- Pre-Authorization Grant for up to $30,000 offered to schools after submission of their charter petition to authorizer
-- Post-Authorization Grant for up to $200,000 offered once the charter is approved
