Joint
Powers Authority
Created in an effort to reduce the amount charter schools
have to spend on worker’s compensation and liability
insurance, the Association’s JPA is saving the typical
charter school over $20,000 per year on worker’s
compensation insurance alone.
How?
A JPA allows multiple government agencies to form pools
so they can better manage risks and costs
The first $100,000 in losses is self-insured so no outside
insurance companies need to be involved
Historically, charter school shave very low losses when
compared to school district thus our JPA is even more
competitive
